Helping Build Sustainable Futures

The RB Cornerstone team has been actively listening to colleagues and identifying initiatives across the business. This feedback has shaped our social impact strategy, emphasising community, volunteering, and charitable work. Extensive engagement with stakeholders has built momentum for our community work and strategic alignment. Our north star ambition will guide our initiatives and partnerships, outlining the societal change we aim to achieve.

GPTW survey result

‘I feel good about the ways we contribute to the community’

This is 5% up from the previous year, however as this reflected feedback in the firm and was one of our lower scores, we wanted to make a difference for our people and society as a whole by making a bigger impact in this area.

In 2024-25, we united our Responsible Business Groups to be a force for good locally and developed our social impact north star. Early in 2025, we collaborated with colleagues, stakeholders, and Boards to identify where we can make the biggest societal impact. Our north star, ‘Helping Build Sustainable Futures,’ aligns with our purpose of supporting opportunity and enabling success. We developed volunteer and charitable giving policies, with local offices choosing charity partners. These foundations will shape our social impact strategy, which we’ll share in next year’s report.

Our Responsible Business Groups: a force for good

While the RB Cornerstone provides strategic direction, we recognise the importance of local engagement. Each office has the autonomy to address specific community needs and develop initiatives that best suit their local context. This approach ensures that our efforts are both strategically aligned and locally relevant, allowing us to make a meaningful impact across all our locations.

Our RB Groups have been brought together from every part of our business, personal assistants, trainees, fee earners, partners, and business services colleagues working together, bringing their passion, knowledge, and ideas to make a real difference.

One of our key steps is ensuring that each office has a charity partner in place that reflects these priorities. We’re committed to identifying and collaborating with charities that align with our guiding principles, encompassing our goals and values, to ensure our efforts are both strategic and impactful. By doing so, we aim to tell a compelling and meaningful story about the societal change we seek to achieve.

Manchester and Mustard Tree

The Manchester office was busy raising money for a number of charities across 2024-25, with a focus on Mustard Tree, a local charity based in Ancoats.

Donations were raised from four colleagues running the Manchester half marathon on 13 October 2024.

The team also completed a fundraising week in July 2024, with the aim for the money raised to go towards new school uniforms for those in need. During this week, different activities were held in the office, including a for quiz, bingo, and a cake sale, where funds were raised for Mustard Tree. Emilia Ridyard is fundraising for Mustard Tree

In 2024, the office collected a total of 48 Easter eggs that were donated to Mustard Tree during the Easter period, as well as doing a toy donation drive in the winter months. The team have also worked closely with Mustard Tree to volunteer in their job clubs, where 12 of our people have supported those who need advice writing their CVs and preparing to enter employment.

High Wycombe

The Heart of Bucks (HoB) has supported charities within Buckinghamshire for 25 years. In 2023, HoB set up a board of people under 30 who would work to identify and fund initiatives within the county that tackle thematic issues for children and young people living there. The firm supported them with raising funds.

Our charity quiz, dress down days, and other fundraising events throughout the year raised a great amount for our fund at Quartet Community Foundation, who help us find local organisations and charities that support the communities we work in. This year we donated the amount to More Trees for Bath and North East Somerset towards the development of their six school-based tree nurseries. Their aim is to teach children about trees, nature, and the environment, together with gaining an understanding of climate concerns.

London

Towards the end of year, the London RB Group organised a food bank donation in support of a local food bank, St Dunstan and All Saints Stepney, supporting 200+ families in desperate need of basic food items. Colleagues were encouraged to wear their favourite festive jumpers and donate a contribution in support of the charity. The donations helped provide much-needed food and support to families in the community during the winter months. They were also delighted to receive the money raised from the Jumper Day.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the London office was pleased to support Dress for Success, a women’s charity dedicated to providing unemployed and underemployed women with the tools and skills to achieve economic self-independence, with donations.

We fundraised for Maggie’s Highland Hospice after we held a bingo and bake sale day. The start of our journey to Help Build Sustainable Futures

This report captures just a snapshot of the fantastic work being done across our offices to champion responsible business and help build more sustainable futures. There’s so much more taking place that we couldn’t include here, but we hope this gives a meaningful glimpse into how each office plays a role. We look forward to sharing our progress in next year’s report. Alongside volunteering, we hope to share KPIs in our next report outlining the first goals we set ourselves within our social impact work.
